What Will it Cost You?

Writer's picture: Q. PeaQ. Pea

How often do we forget to count the cost? Nothing in life is free there is a price to be paid for everything. Living unstuck & free demands that we daily challenge our thoughts and monitor our speech. It's easy to allow self defeating thoughts to roam through our minds but it takes diligence to confront wrong thinking. To bridle our tounge & train ourselves to watch the words we freely spew out will cost us. It will require us to speak less and judge our words before we open our mouths. The cost of words can be life or death. Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 18:21, that life & death are in the power of our tounge. What price are we paying for our words? For many of us we've lived with this delusion that someone was going to sweep in to rescue us. God has given each of us everything we need internally to rescue ourselves. Of course, with His help. But it's much easier to do the opposite. I use to be the person who felt like I needed to be taken care of. And I recall God placing a simple thought in my heart, if other people can take care of themselves so can I. Those words changed me and I haven't looked back since. Scripture teaches in John 8: 36, If the son makes you free, ye shall be free indeed. Luke 14:28, For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it"? For many years I did not apply Luke 14:28 to my life, which is such a basic life principle. Now I understand why areas of my life fell through and did not work as well as it could have, I failed to count the cost. It's funny how easy it is for us to become envious of another person's success. We act as if there wasn't a price to pay, what I find is many of us desire the end results. But we aren't willing to put in the work or pay the price. The quality of ones life is based on the price one is willing to pay. Whatever your "it" is make sure you take in to account what it's going to cost you. We tend to value those things that cost us something more than those things given to us freely. I hope your are inspired by today's post and it reminds you that nothing in life is free. And never forget, we are unstuck, and we are free!

Yes, great post indeed! Love that scripture, Luke 14:28. So many times we fail to consider the cost. We’ve always heard that to whom much is given, much is required but those are more than mere words, they’re words that reign so true. I’m sure we’ve also heard that anything that comes cheap can’t be worth that much and probably isn’t worth having. Also true! Those who have succeeded in whatever area of their lives have put in the work, so must we. We should all consider building a tower but don’t start unless you’ve considered the cost of completing it. A half built tower is of little value. The value comes once it’s completed, and to complete it yo…

Good thing, that’s how we grow. The problem arises when people refuse to take responsibility or face accountability for the state they’re in. It’s a very dangerous place to be since we cannot grow from what we do not recognize. Instead, we’ll continue to stay stagnant and then look around and keep wondering why others have advanced and we haven’t. We’ve got to go beyond the point of recognition, we’ve got to grow from it. We all know the definition of insanity… doing the same thing and expecting a different result, but self awareness is the first step and the most powerful tool to success. You’re on the right path!!

Your words ring so true. I'm going through this now. From the words I've spoken and the actions that both of those things cost. We dont take to account what our actions do to ourselves and others, but I am, so thankful that we serve a great GOD,, one that will forgive us of our sins and make us whole again.

Yes, God is gracious enough to show us our mistakes so that we can change and reap the good benefits of doing things His way!
