There are so many opinions floating around today, and it seems that many of us are closed minded to the viewpoint of others. I believe this breakdown starts with not knowing how to communicate and listen to one another. I've learned that I can disagree with you while remaining respectful of your feelings and opinions. Many times we aren't listening because we want to prove why we're right. And it gets us no where, it pushes people further away.
Trying to convince someone to see things from our perspective can often backfire. I've found that listening and sincerely hearing what's being said to be most effective. When we're hot headed and think our way is the only way it causes frustration. And usually the other person shuts down. Despite our differences of opinion we must maintain respect for others. Just because we don't see things alike, does not give anyone the right to be disrespectful. It seems like respect for differences is a big issue. And I hope each of us will practice tolerance and consider the fact that everyone sees things from a different vantage point. Which is usually based off individual experiences. I hope today's post inspires you to consider how you communicate with others. And reminds you that every opinion is important and valuable.
