How often do we find ourselves feeling disconnected from ourselves? I've begun to realize how important it is to reconnect and stay connected to what I need and feel as an individual. So often we extend ourselves to others to meet their needs while ours often go unattended. Recently I heard someone refer to the passage of scripture where David said, my cup runneth over. The speaker pointed out how David gave from the excess, after his needs had been met. I never thought about it in that way. It also reminds me where we are commanded to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. How can I fully be anything of good to anyone if I'm not first good to myself? With the many voices and opinions dominating the conversation today it's easy to lose your internal connection if you're not careful. As I think about my life and those things that are important to my happiness it reminds me of the values I hold dear. It also puts into perspective the kind of relationships I want. Sometimes in reconnecting with ourselves it may cause a disconnect from others. When we feel stuck and like we don't know which way to go, I've found that connection through a simple prayer often opens the way to clarity. It may be a small opening but in time more will be revealed. It's easy to forget that we can reconnect with ourselves through our connection with God. He knows us inside and out, and loves to reveal those things to us that we need to know. Start with something as simple as acknowledging how you feel. Don't dismiss your feelings or your needs, those are the things that will help you find your way back to yourself. I hope today's post inspires you to get in touch & stay in tuned with yourself. We are unstuck, and we are free.
