Our minds are constantly going, so much so that some find it difficult to wind down at night. Unable to quiet the mind an allow a much needed reboot. We often talk about detoxing when it comes to diet, but have you ever considered taking a mental detox? It wasn't anything I planned, but a few weeks ago I decided to take a break from TV.
Honestly it's been a very good experience, not hearing nor seeing the daily images of all that's wrong in the world actually boosted my sense of hope and optimism. That was a mental detox, clearing my mind of all the chaos and focusing on other things. I felt extremely productive, my energy was on something other than the stories the media was telling me I had to pay attention to. While we know its important to be updated on the issues of the world, often times its easy to become consumed by them. As if nothing else matters, well that is when stepping away from so much news may be a great idea. We take in so much information, often times overlooking the effects it is having on our day to day lives. Our thoughts and feelings go hand in hand, if you find yourself in a funk take an inventory of what you're thinking. That may be the signal to clear out the mental junk, allowing space for new and uplifting thoughts. Detox your mind to renew your spirit!
