Lighten Up

How often do we go through our lives uptight and on edge? Failing to realize the impact on our health and overall well-being. There are many principles in the Bible where Jesus teaches us how to live a healthy life emotionally. We are taught how to think, speak, and not carry around the burdens or cares of this life. Life is a challenge for us all. The way we handle our difficulties is completely our decision. From my experience I've learned that being uptight and easily frustrated will only add to the problem. Our emotions and thoughts can wreak havoc on our physical health. There was a time when my body was responding to my aggravated state of mind. I experienced symptoms as if I were really sick. Expensive test were ordered only to reveal that physically I was in good health. A friend of mine, who is also a physician suggested I incorporate yoga into my lifestyle. At the time I heard what he said but did not act upon the suggestion. I allowed myself to deal with very high blood pressure, fatigue, and overall burn out. On the outside I appeared fine but on the inside I was slowly killing myself. That's what we're doing to our bodies when we live wound up. It took me a little while to fully make the mind- body connection. And to take responsibility that I allowed this to happen. Living life this way isn't sustainable for the long haul. And it greatly diminishes our quality of life. I began making choices that placed my overall health first! Life for me now is lived at a slower, yet meaningful pace. It's opened my eyes to all of the goodness that surrounds me. Daily I am learning to appreciate my life and health. The positive effects on my health are a lower heart rate and blood pressure. And let's not forget better sleep and the need to rush through my days are gone. As I began lightening up, my life began to expand in a more meaningful way. I have come to accept that I cannot change people or certain things. I can however change myself and my response to the life I've been given. Lighten up and begin experiencing life from a new perspective. We are unstuck, and we are free!

Totally agree with everything you said. We can't change people or certain things that happen to us, but we can change ourselves and how we respond to adversity.
