Knowing When to Step Back

Updated: Aug 10, 2023

Sometimes it's good to take a break. Stepping away from the day-to-day routine of our lives can often bring rest to our souls. And open our minds and hearts to new ideas and inspire creative abilities to flow freely. Only you can determine what taking a break is for you. Each person's life is so unique, for me it can be taking a day off from emails, text messages, and phone calls.

There are many things that can steal our time and zap our energy. Distractions are everywhere. I have found it beneficial to step back. In doing so, I've realized the world didn't fall apart. More importantly it's shown me that I was burnt-out and didn't recognize the signs. Because for some people it's normal to always feel tired and constantly be on the go. When we choose to disregard what our bodies are telling us at some point it will shut down. Forcing you to be attentive to what it needs. I now understand that physical fatigue can be a result of mental tiredness. It's OK to stop and say, "I'm tired." Once you pinpoint the source it becomes easier to resolve. With a world that is always moving, many find it difficult to simply rest. I am a constant work in progress, my goal is to trust God enough that I am able to find rest despite the ins and outs of life. I'm OK with saying "no", I'm OK with saying "I don't feel like getting up right now," and I am OK with taking time for myself. Today I want to inspire you to do a wellness check on yourself. Do you need a day off, a few moments to regroup and recoup? If you do, that's OK! You're human, we're not robots. Take care of yourself from the inside out. Listen closely to what your body is saying & do not ignore it! Always remember, we are unstuck, and we are free!
