Kindness

One of the best compliments I have ever received was from a lady I worked with. She said that I was the nicest person she'd ever met. While I would beg to differ, but those words have stuck with me throughout the years.

It makes me think how little effort it takes to sincerely be kind. While it's easy being kind to some, others require a little more effort. We can develop and practice simple behaviors such as saying thank you. Or holding the door for the person behind us, simply smiling instead of frowning. When we are nice to people they tend to respond to us in a more positive way. It doesn't matter who you are or the title you hold, how you speak to a person and make them feel is what counts. Kindness in our speech can be so effective in reaching others. There is a Biblical principle that speaks of this, referring to our words as honey. “Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” I believe when we are kind to ourselves it makes it naturally easier to be kind to others. Throughout the day open your ears and listen to how we speak to and about others. Allow yourself to hear the words we say first within and second to one another. May we all practice kind behavior and demonstrate it in our simple, daily conduct. We are unstuck and we are free!
