Discipline

Writer's picture: Q. PeaQ. Pea

Have you ever started something but failed to finish? Often times we may find ourselves doing so because we are falling short in putting ourselves in check, simply we are not being disciplined in those areas.

It's not our lack of motivation, because that pushes many of us to begin. We feel excited but discipline is what keeps us moving when things seem stagnant. There are many examples I can personally think of where enthusiasm started the process for me but discipline propelled me to the finish line. I was excited about homeownership but discipline is what kept me moving towards the goal once I knew what was required of me to make this my reality. In my opinion being disciplined means doing whatever is needed to see the desired result. Especially when there's no immediate outcome, we must keep pushing towards our individual finish line. Without giving up, taking a break and regrouping if necessary. But training ourselves to keep going. Biblical principle reminds us, {"no discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."} I hope you are inspired to remain disciplined and focused on your goals. We are unstuck and we are free.

Great words full of truth. Like you, and all of us, I’m guilty of this as well. So many times we get motivated to begin something but because we don’t see results, or as much results as we think we should, we give up. But, we have to remain focused, not on the current state, but the end result. I read an inspirational post once that said if it’s easy, it’s not worth it. Anything that ends with tremendous results, likely took dedication, perseverance and time. We must remain focused on the end goal and refuse to stop until we reach that point.
