Courage to Heal

Updated: Aug 11, 2023

At some point in our lives we must face those things that have wounded us. It takes courage to heal, often it may be easier to act as though the event didn't happen. But life will in some way force you to remember. Some things are so painful that we've pushed them far from memory. Not realizing our behavior often reflects the wounds of our unhealed hearts. Dealing with these issues can often be difficult but it is necessary to bring the healing we need & deserve. Healing and forgiveness both require time and compassion for oneself. I've found that listening to the wrong voices can delay healing, be careful with whom you share your pain with. Being honest and acknowledging the pain is a vital part of the process. There is life on the other side. God came to heal our emotions if we are willing to deal with them and allow Him access to our hearts. Each of us has a story, so never feel like you are alone. There is always someone who can relate to what you're going through or have endured. We must be open to allowing complete healing to begin for those unseen wounds, so we no longer feel the need to pretend we are OK when we're not. Sometimes healing looks like talking to a professional and other times it is simply saying, "God this hurts and I need you to completely heal my heart". From my experience this also reveals hurt you did not realize was there, God knows everything that has and will happen to us. In those times when it feels hard to trust him, do it anyway. He's the person we can be completely honest with, it's time to heal and it's time to help others who are on their personal journey as well. Never forget, we are unstuck, and we are free!
